Shamanic journeying is a way of finding answers, retrieving information, healing, acquiring wisdom and knowledge as well as guidance or help from the spirit world  for one’s personal life.

In order to understand Shamanic journeying, we must part from the premise that shamanic language is not prose or logical, it is the original language of magic and poetry.

When Andrea speaks with her clients, she asks them to  allow their “imagination” to inspire and lead them into their craving soul.

In our Western technology-driven world, we are taught and rewarded to think linearly and scientifically. There must be proof. There must be a beginning, middle, and an end. There must be a cause and effect. Deviating from it is wrong and childish. 

Our visionary, intuitive mind, our other senses, such as smell, touch, hearing, and taste, make profound connections and association between seemingly unrelated images, sensations and messages. It speaks to us in primordial feelings, forms, symbols, metaphors, and idioms. It shows itself in a variety of archetypal colors, physical and emotional feelings, body sensations, unexplained knowing, hearing voices, and sounds, and a variety of animals and topographies. 

Our spirit and soul, and our gut feelings understand this language very well, even though we may not be able to verbalize it. It cannot be explained in the simplicity of linear thinking. Like one of the shamans who taught Andrea once said. “When you do shamanic work you must leave your logical mind outside the door. It’s just not made to make sense.” Logically or scientifically it may not make sense, but it doesn’t mean it is not appropriate and cannot help others.

Decoding, and integrating shamanic visions, using shamanic journeying techniques, and plant medicine visions could be a pretty confusing undertaking for people who begin on this path. In my practice, I meet many people whose lack of understanding of this sacred language, lead them to a rushed implementation of their new found visions. It is important to always practice this journeying with a guide. Someone who’s acquainted with the depths of the three worlds (Lower, middle and upper world) and who can assist us in grounding these “creative” experiences.
