¿What it's focalizing therapy?

Focalizing is an intention based, somatic healing modality based in observation of the natural world. Focalizing invites participants to listen to the innate intelligence of their body in order to conjure resilience, heal from trauma, build intimacy and uncover new possibilities beyond the conditioned thinking of the mind.

In Focalizing, we work to become present with the felt sensations of the body because as research shows, healing from trauma is not a mental process. In fact, animals in the wild are so good at recovering from trauma precisely because they don’t have the large neocortex (frontal brain) that we have which takes our experience and makes stories and meaning out of it. In other words, the mind doesn’t know how to heal from trauma, but the body does. So in Focalizing we work to engage our body’s natural capacity to heal. The same capacity we share with the animal kingdom.
